Test Results
We flew/tested the Rhombus 51 inch Breezy Delta kite in a wind range from about 7 to 10 MPH. In this wind range the kite flew somewhat steady. The enclosed instructions state the wind range to be 4 to 18 MPH. We estimate the recommended/realistic and safe wind range to be about 5 to 10 MPH.
FYI: Around 18 MPH sand starts to move/blow across the beach where we test our kites.
Kite Contents: 51 inch delta kite, 100 hundred feet of 30 pound test line on a plastic 4 inch yoyo winder, clear vinyl storage bag, instructions.
The dimensions of the kite are 55 inches wide x 51 inches high.
The kite requires no modifications to the bridle. It is a fixed bridle. Assembly takes about a minute. Insert the fiberglass cross strut and attach
the flying line to the bridle. The instructions are terse, but are clear using both text and a diagram. Note: The instructions omitted stating that the leading edge rods should be pushed towards the back of the kite. Also, the fabric sleeve ends of the leading edges are not sewn shut, this can cause the leading edge rods to slip out of the sleeves.
The sail is made of Spinnaker nylon and is hemmed for durability. The pockets for the cross strut fiberglass rod to insert into are reinforced with dacron.
The small sail area of this kite lends itself best for visual appeal at a height up to about 75 feet.
Note to Rhombus: We would like to see better sewing of the leading edge sleeves.
Summary: At a club member price of $8.89, the Rhombus 51 inch delta kite is a fair value for children.
The 51 inch Rombus delta comes in different colors:
blue, rainbow, red, breezy
