Test Results
We flew/tested the NewTech Martin Lester Legs kite in a wind range from about 8 to 12 MPH. In this wind range the kite flew well (steady) as a standalone kite. This kite flies either as a standalone kite or as line laundry.
The enclosed instructions state the wind range to be 8 to 20 MPH. We estimate the recommended/realistic and safe wind range to be about 8 to 15 MPH. FYI: Around 18 MPH sand starts to move/blow across the beach
where we test our kites.
Kite Contents: 6 foot Martin Lester Legs kite, two hundred feet of 50 pound test line on a plastic hand winder, nylon storage bag with cord lock, instructions.
The dimensions of the kite are 30 inches wide x 79 inches high.
The kite requires no modifications to the bridle. Assembly is quick and easy - just attach the flying line to the bridle.
The sail is made of ripstop nylon.
The medium sail area of this kite lends itself best for visual appeal at a height up to about 125 feet.
It is a safe kite to fly since there are no rods, it is a frameless (soft) kite. It makes a nice a travel kite which can be placed in your suitcase
without fear of breaking the kite.
Note: We found the nylon storage bag too small.
Summary: At a club member price of $42.89, the NewTech Martin Lester Legs Kite is a good value and flyer for children and adults. If you are looking for something different than the traditional diamond or delta kite, consider this kite.
This kite comes in two colors: red, blue
