Test Results
We flew/tested the NewTech Traditonal Diamond kite wind ranges from
from about 8 to 12 MPH. In this wind range the kite flew very steady/well.
The instructions state the wind range to be 4 to 18 MPH. We estimate the
recommended/realistic and safe wind range to be about 6 to 13 MPH. FYI: Around 18 MPH sand starts to move/blow across the beach where we test our kites.
Kite Contents: Traditional Diamond kite with tails, three hundred feet of 30 pound test line on a plastic hand winder, vinyl storage bag.
The dimensions of the kite are 29 inches wide x 32 inches high.
The kite requires no modifications to the bridle. It is a fixed bridle. Assembly is quick and easy, insert the 2 fiberglass cross-struts into the corners of the backside dacron pockets and center molding. The instructions are clear using both text and diagrams.
The sail is made of ripstop nylon. We were pleased with the stitching for a kite in this price range. The sail of the kite is hemmed for durability. The struts have rubber end caps to prevent them from protruding through the pockets over time and causing splinters in your fingers.
The small sail area of this kite lends itself best for visual appeal at a height up to about 75 feet. It also includes 2 six and half foot ribbon tails which helps improve the stability of the kite.
Summary: The NewTech Traditional Diamond kite is an excellant value for children. This is the best flying diamond kite we have tested so far, and it also happens to be the least expensive. This is great kite for children parties
and kite festival organizers. Buy several in different colors for a beautiful display in the sky.
The Traditional Diamond comes in many solid colors:
blue, green, orange, red, yellow, white, purple. pink
