Test Results
We flew/tested the NewTech Facet Mult-Cell kite in a wind range from about 8 to 15 MPH. In this wind range the kite flew well (steady). The enclosed instructions state the wind range to be 7 to 20 MPH. We estimate the recommended/realistic and safe wind range to be about 7 to 15 MPH.
FYI: Around 18 MPH sand starts to move/blow across the beach where we test our kites.
Kite Contents: 36 inch Facet Multi-Cell kite, three hundred feet of 30 pound test line on a plastic hand winder, clear vinyl storage bag, instructions.
The dimensions of the kite are 36 inches wide x 36 inches high x 39 inches deep.
The kite requires no modifications to the bridle. Assembly takes a couple of minutes to attach the 6 fiberglass rods. Note: It may require and adult to assembly the kite for a young child due to the strength required to insert all the rods into the plastic fittings around the kite. Finally, attach the flying line to the bridle.
The sail (head) is made of ripstop nylon. The sail is hemmed for durability. We liked that there were metal rings for the rods to pass through around the outside of the kite for additional strength/rigidity.
The small sail area of this kite lends itself best for visual appeal at a height up to about 75 feet. The Facet rainbow design is colorful in the sky.
Summary: At a club member price of $20.89, the NewTech 36 inch Facet Multi-cell kite is a very good value and flyer for children and adults.
