Test Results
We flew/tested the Premier Patriotic Rhombus Box kite in a wind range from about 10 to 12 MPH. In this wind range the kite was unstable, leaning back and forth towards one side or the other. And at times the kite nose dived into the ground. The kite flew well between 7 and 10 MPH. The instructions state the wind range to be 8 to 20 MPH. This is a low wind box kite due to its rhombus shape. We estimate the recommended/realistic and safe wind range to be about 6 to 10 MPH. FYI: Around 18 MPH sand starts to move/blow across the beach where we test our kites.
Kite Contents: Rhombus Box kite, 300 feet of 50 pound test line on a plastic hand winder, nylon storage bag, instructions.
The dimensions of the kite are 24 inches wide x 42 inches high.
The kite requires no modifications to the bridle. Assembly takes about a minute. The are 4 dowels (2 short dowels, and 2 longer dowels). Insert the wood dowels into the kite's cross strut fittings (top and bottom) making an even X in the center of the kite and both are through the center holding ring.
Make sure the short dowel goes into the fitting that is attached to the bridle line. The instructions are clear to understand using both text and diagrams.
The sail is made of appliqued ripstop nylon. The sail is hemmed for durability.
The small sail area of this kite lends itself best for visual appeal at a height up to about 100 feet. The Patriotic design looked colorful in the sky.
Summary: At a price of $28.56, the Premier Rhombus Box kite is an average value due to its limited flying range.
The Premier Rhombus Box kite comes in different designs:
Patriotic, Rainbow
