Test Results

We flew/tested the Big Mouth Rokakku  in 5 MPH to 15 MPH.  In this wind range the kite went up easily and flew steady. The tag description nor directions do not state the optimum wind range. We estimate the recommended and safe wind range to be about 5 to 15 MPH.  FYI: Around 18 MPH sand starts to move/blow across the beach where we test our kites.

The dimensions of the kite are 63 inches wide x 78 inches high.

Initial assembly requires inserting the two-piece spine and securing the spine with the velcro flap.  2 other two-piece cross struts/rods are inserted into side pockets and attached to the bridle through the sail from the rear-side of the kite.  The cross struts should then be bowed about  6 inches (top) to 7 inches (bottom) for proper/stable flight . The kite requires modifications to the bridle for various wind ranges which is normal for all rokkakus.  Then attach your flying line to the heavy duty bridle.  Assembly is very well documented using several
graphics/pictures with the enclosed instructions.

This kite requires 150 pound test flying line (not included). 

The sail is made of appliqued ripstop nylon. We were impressed with the sail stitching and applique for a kite within this price range. The sail is hemmed for durability.  The struts in this kite are carbon fiber which provide
better strength and less weight compared to fiberglass.

The large sail area and bold graphics/colors of this kite lends itself best for visual appeal at a height of about 200 feet.

This kite provides strong lift/pull and thus is suitable for attaching moderate
sized windsocks and other similar laundry to the flying line.

Care should be used when flying this kite in strong wind conditons due to the
three carbon rods which form the frame.
 
Summary: At a club member price of $59.89, the Premier Big Mouth Rokkaku is an excellant value for experienced adult kite fliers.  We highly recommend this kite.
